What I Eat in a Day (and Why)
We live in a strange world.
It’s a world in which gamers can make a living displaying their prowess on Twitch. Young women earn money for posting videos of their “outfit of the day,” highlighting certain brands they’re wearing. Of course, the ones who post what they’re not wearing? Well, they can make a cool six figures on OnlyFans.
So it’s hardly a surprise that many influencers - whether they’re specifically identified as being part of the “wellness community” or not - create videos showing what they eat in a day. Myriad motivations for these videos include sheer attention seeking, promoting products, or pushing a particular lifestyle.
Some of my world-famous carnivore chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the oven.
We humans enjoy taking other individuals, labeling them, and placing them in a box, sort of like the Victorian tradition of placing pins through butterflies and lining them up in a display case. The reason I’m sharing my daily nutrition routine is not so you can copy me or label me. I do want you to compare your nutrition consumption to my own - but with the express purpose of looking to improve your own personal choices. We can all learn from one another, and I enjoy seeing what creative meals other carnivores post online. Some things I try for myself, and others I scroll on past. But posting my meals may give you an idea, and that’s the primary reason I share so frequently.
But every body is different.
I began carnivore on my own, a natural transition from keto. Once I discovered the online community, particularly on Instagram, it sparked my natural competitive fires and I made the mistake of trying to “out-carnivore” everyone else. If they fasted for 20 hours, I wanted to fast for 21. If they ate one ribeye a day, I’d eat half of one. It was the remnant of my eating disorder rearing its ugly head - and it was a huge mistake.
After turning my life over to Jesus and finally allowing Him to be in control of my life, I realized how selfish and prideful I’d been in making these comparisons and in attempting to use this lifestyle as a tool to make myself feel superior to others. Only through Christ could I change my attitude and finally surrender. I began to understand that I could use the carnivore lifestyle to truly nourish my body, build it up, and accomplish the plans God set forth for me. I now eat in order to fuel my body and strengthen it in order to fulfill God’s purpose for me on Earth. It has brought me greater joy and satisfaction than I could ever have dreamed.
What I eat in a Day - To achieve my current goal
This video is representative of my typical eating patterns right now. As my needs and goals change, I expect my routine to change as well. This is normal, and I encourage you to listen and adapt to your body’s specific needs. I spent too long forcing myself to follow strict rules, often to my own detriment. True intuitive eating is deliciously liberating and satiating!
Right now, my physical goal is to gain back the weight I lost while in the hospital. I also return to work on July 22 and want to ensure I’m more than ready to jump back in! I have been eating in a surplus and strategically strength training to build lean mass. An extra benefit of eating more has been deep, restorative sleep.
I’m excited for what the future holds. Can you say the same? Are you nourishing your body the way God intended? What does your personal goal mean for your eating and exercise habits? I would love to hear about your journey - drop a comment below or send me a message on Instagram!
